TACOMA -- Columbia River is a state wrestling power, but for fans
new to the sport, they might ask "Columbia who?"
But not after Friday, when the Chieftains stormed through the
Class 3A state tournament and advanced four of their six wrestlers
into today's semifinals.
Columbia River has a rich history at state, capped by a team state
championship in 1986. But the Chieftains have struggled in recent
years, earning just one state berth at the 2000 and 2001 tournaments.
They were down, but not out. The proud Chieftains emphatically
rebounded and became this year's Class 3A tournament's surprise when
