World famous poets and pollsters, entrepreneurs and entertainers,
designers and professors, and even a saint. Of different religions
and nations of origin, they immigrated to New York City with a common
heritage: They or their ancestors were from Arabic-speaking nations.
An exhibit opening Saturday at the Museum of the City of New York
explores that diversity, shattering many stereotypes about New York'
s Arab-American population.
"A Community of Many Worlds: Arab Americans in New York City" features
more than 200 photographs, documents, books, costumes, textiles, household
objects and artifacts, as well as videotaped interviews.
