Isolated snow showers were scattered across the northern tier of
states Tuesday, including locally heavy lake-effect snow falling along
the lower Great Lakes. Rain moved onto the West Coast.
Clouds spread along the jet stream from the northern Rockies across
the northern Plains and the Great Lakes.
The heaviest snow fell downwind of Lake Erie in western New York
and near Lake Ontario in northern New York.
Flakes fell at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour in parts of the
state, and by afternoon Hamburg had collected 14 inches in 24 hours.
Light snow showers were scattered from northern Idaho across Montana,
North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, ...
