GEOGRAPHY: Mauritius belongs to the Mascarene archipelago, which includes
Reunion and Rodrigues, and lies past Madagascar in the Indian Ocean
about 1,300 miles (2,100 kilometers) off the African coast. A largely
volcanic formation, Mauritius measures about 20 miles (32 kilometers)
in diameter and covers an area of 720 square miles (1,843 square kilometers).
Coral reefs surround all sides except the south.
