GOLF: Webb and Sorenstam prepare for season battle

MOON VALLEY, Phoenix, March 12 AAP - Karrie Webb could hardly have chosen a less auspicious venue to launch her much-anticipated 2002 LPGA Tour season battle with Annika Sorenstam.

Webb goes into her seventh season of duelling with the super Swede on the world's pre-eminent tour on Thursday already trailing by one victory.

And she's doing it at the Moon Valley course in Phoenix where Sorenstam wrote a unique piece of golf history as the first woman to shoot 59 in a tournament on the way to an LPGA Tour record winning score of 27-under 261.
