THE obligation to employ labor supply agencies in the recruitment of
staff
by foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) has sometimes caused discomfort
to the foreign business community. News has emerged recently from
various
sources that the government had released a rule entitling FIEs to
recruit
Vietnamese staff directly without the involvement of labor supply
agencies.
Is the news accurate? The rule in question is Decree No. 75/2001/ND-
CP
issued by the government on October 19, 2001 amending and adding various
articles to Decree No. 46/1999/ND-CP dated July 1, 1999, and Decree
No.
85/1998/ND-CP dated October 20, 1998. We found vague points of view
