Dateline: CANBERRA, Australia Supporters of the Falun Gong sat cross-legged in silent protest outside Parliament and the Chinese embassy Tuesday as Beijing's foreign minister held talks with his Australian counterpart.

Inside Parliament, Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer and Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan were discussing human rights, trade and regional security.

Downer has been accused by Australian practitioners of Falun Gong and some legislators of bowing to Chinese pressure by ordering the sect to dismantle a permanent 24-hour a day protest of banners and music players outside the embassy.
