SAINT-DENIS, France (AP) - Capping a brilliant revival, France
thrashed Ireland 44-5 on Saturday to win a Six Nations Grand Slam
in
breathtaking style.
Flanker Serge Betsen and full back Nicolas Brusque scored two
tries each at the Stade de France while Aurelien Rougerie scored a
fifth for the French.
Fly half Gerald Merceron scored a total 16 points in penalties
and conversions as France claimed its seventh Grand Slam, and its
first in four years.
