Dateline: WASHINGTON
A day before meeting with President George W. Bush, Lebanon's prime
minister said he would welcome an international peace conference on
the Middle East if it would lead to a comprehensive solution of the
Arab-Israeli conflict.
"If (we) really want to see the peace taking place in the region,
we have to include Lebanon, Syria and the Palestinians as well," Prime
Minister Rafik Hariri said Tuesday on PBS television's "NewsHour With
Jim Lehrer."
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon proposed the conference to Secretary
of State Colin Powell on Sunday, and Powell discussed it with Lebanese
and Syrian leaders in visits to their ...
