Article: Theory Suggests 'Cure' For Eating Disorders

(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) BERKELEY, Calif. -- UC Berkeley graduate Julia Ross has come up with a controversial new theory
that she says cures eating disorders, which affect 5 percent to 20 percent of
UC Berkeley students.

The three primary types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia
nervosa and compulsive overeating. Anorexia nervosa is defined as
self-starvation, while bulimia nervosa involves binging and purging.

Ross, who is the executive director of Recovery Systems, a Mill Valley-based
out-patient clinic, says that a new treatment may enable patients to fully
recover from an eating disorder.
