Article: Senators discuss vetoed ethics code

(Florida Flambeau) (U-WIRE) TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- An ethics code which bans members of Florida State University student
government from appointing their friends to offices has met opposition.

On Friday, Sept. 12, FSU student government president Nick Iarossi vetoed the
ethics code proposed by senate president Ed Dandrow.

The code, based on state, federal and business ethics codes, provided rules and
penalties for senators on such matters as conflict of interest, false
documentation and due process.

Supporters of the code say it is odd that Iarossi would target it for a veto.
But Iarossi maintains that the code has objectionable provisions.
