PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Brian Tollberg, in danger of being demoted to the minors, held Pittsburgh to two runs in six-plus innings and San Diego turned a five-run third inning into a 7-2 victory Sunday and a doubleheader split.

Brian Giles hit a go-ahead triple in the seventh and the Pirates _ held to a run by Ben Howard in his major league debut _ rallied against San Diego's bullpen to win 3-2 in the first game.

Ryan Klesko drove in five runs as the Padres and Pirates split a doubleheader for the 11th straight time. Neither team has swept since the Pirates on Aug. 21, 1981, in Three Rivers Stadium, just over a year after the Padres swept in Pittsburgh.
