New molecule blocks allergic reactions

-- A new way of preventing allergies that has been shown to be effective
in mice could lead to novel treatments in humans for conditions such
as asthma, hay fever, hives and food allergies, researchers said Wednesday.
Scientists report in the journal Nature Medicine that they have created
a molecule that binds to receptors on cells and may prevent allergens
such as peanuts, ragweed and pollen from triggering the chain reaction
that leads to the symptoms allergy sufferers are so familiar with
