Culture Vulture: Cheese-no smiling matter
PARIS, May 02, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- When
you say "cheese" in France, it's not always to smile, let alone a
laughing matter. Cheese is also big business and, in certain parts
of Western Europe, people take their cheeses very, very seriously.
France, for example, prides itself with hundreds of different sorts
of cheeses, ranging from soft ones such as the Brie, Camembert and
a wide assortment of goat cheeses, to harder ones such as the Cantal,
or the Mimolette. Stronger cheeses such as the Roquefort and the
Alsatian Munster might discourage those with delicate olfactory senses,
but remain ...
