WASHINGTON (AP) _ To get a glimpse inside the White House these days
it helps to know a member of Congress.
With public tours halted, lawmakers are playing tour guide to everybody
from friends and family to lobby groups, rice farmers and even a raffle
winner.
Marion Davis, a North Carolina businessman who visited Washington
with the National Telephone Cooperative Association to lobby Congress
for an industry tax break, got his congressman, Mike McIntyre, to
escort him and five colleagues on an hourlong White House tour last
month.
