RU: Sale eye European Cup place after edging London Irish
LONDON, May 5 AFP - Sale Sharks moved a step closer to an automatic
place in next season's
European Cup with a 36-32 rugby victory over London Irish at the Madejski
Stadium on Sunday.
Sale turned on the style to see off this season's English Cup winners
for a victory
which hands it five vital Premiership points and moves it to third
in the league.
London Irish was by no means overwhelmed, though, and bravely fought
back to ensure
a vital bonus point in injury time with two late tries.
