LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Horse racing can reduce grown men to tears and trainer Jim Bond was fighting to hold them back Friday morning.

A solemn Bond almost broke down several times at a hastily called news conference shortly after 7 a.m. to announce that Buddha, winner of the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, would be scratched from today's Kentucky Derby.
