CARACAS, May 9 (IPS) -- The popularity of Venezuelan President
Hugo Chávez has risen since last month's failed attempt to
overthrow him, according to a new survey.
In a nationwide study carried out by the polling firm
Datanálisis, 44 percent of respondents supported Chávez, 10
percent more than in the last poll conducted prior to the
frustrated putsch in mid-April, Luis Vicente León, the director
of the firm, told business representatives and foreign
correspondents yesterday.
Chávez's approval ratings began to rally after he regained the
presidency on Apr. 14, two days after he was toppled by an
alliance of business leaders and military officers ...
