Surrounded by dozens of armed men, American FBI agents arrived Saturday
at the heavily guarded jail in Hyderabad in southern Sindh province
where the trial of four men accused of kidnapping and killing Wall
Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was to resume.
In a telephone interview late Friday, Prosecutor Raja Quereshi said
the two FBI agents, who traced e-mails sent by the Pearl's kidnappers
to news organizations, were to testify Saturday.
Pearl was kidnapped in Karachi on Jan. 23 while researching links
between Pakistani militants and Richard C. Reid, the man arrested
in December on a Paris-Miami flight with explosives in his shoes.
