Jules Jacobsen, who parlayed a knack for marketing a 1940s-era mealtime staple into a career as publisher of a weekly newspaper in Bergen County, died Saturday in Florida. He was 83.

For 29 years, Mr. Jacobsen was co-publisher, and later sole owner, of The Suburbanite, based in Cresskill. He also was founder of Allied Offset Printing Corp. and Addressing Services of America, both in Saddle Brook.
