UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ The U.N. Security Council lifted a travel ban
on Angola's UNITA rebels for 90 days on Friday to help promote the
peace process in the war-ravaged southwest African nation.
The rebels and the government signed an agreement last month aimed
at ending Africa's longest-running civil war.
Lifting the travel ban will enable UNITA members to advance "the peace
process and national reconciliation," the council said.
It will also let UNITA reorganize following the death of rebel leader
Jonas Savimbi, the resolution passed by the council said.
Three previous peace deals, which brought brief pauses in the fighting,
