Fed: Dalai Lama supporters protest at Prime Minister's residence
SYDNEY, May 19 AAP - About 50 protesters waved Tibetan flags outside
Prime Minister
John Howard's Sydney residence today, urging him to meet with the
Dalai Lama in the coming
week.
A large crowd greeted the Dalai Lama in Melbourne today at the
start of a nine-day
visit that will also take him to Canberra and Sydney.
Mr Howard has indicated he will not meet with the Tibetan religious
leader, saying
they met in 1996.
Demonstrators at Kirribilli House in Sydney's north today waved
blue, red and yellow
flags, burned incense and sang a haunting Tibetan song, Words for
Truth, as they urged
