BALTIMORE (AP) _ Suddenly surging Greg Vaughn hit two more home runs
and rookies Travis Harper and Steve Kent combined on Tampa Bay's first
shutout of the season as the Devil Rays beat the Baltimore Orioles
4-0 Sunday.
Vaughn, who snapped a homerless drought spanning 222 at-bats with
a pair of shots Saturday night, hit his third and fourth homers of
the season. He now has 348 career home runs.
Vaughn began the day batting .118, but became the first player in
Tampa Bay history to have consecutive two-homer games. It was the
first time in his career that he's had back-to-back multihomer games,
and gave him 31 overall.
