Study suggests banning rubber bullets
HAIFA, Israel, May 23, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX)
-- Rubber bullets used during riots have caused serious injuries and
deaths by penetrating the skin and should not be used as a method
of crowd control, according to a study released Thursday.
Dr. Michael Krausz, from the Department of General Surgery at Rambam
Medical Center in Haifa, led a team that studied the severity of rubber
bullet injuries by gathering injury reports collected during the October
2000 riots that resulted in clashes between Israeli Arabs and Israeli
police.
A total of 152 patients with 201 injuries proven to have been caused
by rubber ...
