SA: Tests show worn shock absorbers increase driver fatigue

ADELAIDE, May 28 AAP - Driving on worn shock absorbers could increase stress levels and slow driver reaction times by more than 25 per cent, a study has found.

The study, by Belgium's KUL University for Australian shock absorber manufacturer Monroe, showed the link between fatigue and driving for long distances on worn shock absorbers.

The university found worn absorbers caused tyres to bounce more, spending less time in contact with the road.

As a result, stress and fatigue increased because drivers had to continually make corrections while driving.
