BERLIN - A new synagogue was inaugurated Friday in the eastern German city of Chemnitz, replacing a building destroyed by the Nazis. The building, designed by Frankfurt architect Alfred Jacoby, cost $4.1 million, and also houses a library and center for the city's 500-member Jewish community.
