Vic: Archdiocese denies paying "hush money" to abused victims

Melbourne's Catholic Archdiocese last night denied that its compensation scheme for victims of sexual abuse by priests is an attempt to silence the victims.

The Archdiocese's Vicar General, Monsignor CHRISTOPHER PROWSE, says the church has never offered hush money and never paid hush money.

He says 126 people have applied for and been granted compensation under the scheme.
