CHICAGO (AP) _ Eye drops used to treat an eye pressure condition that
affects up to 6 million Americans can delay and perhaps even prevent
glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness, a study suggests.
The eye condition, called ocular hypertension, involves elevated pressure
within the eyeball and results when fluid flowing into and out of
the eye drains too slowly. It affects between 4 percent and 7 percent
of U.S. adults over 40 and raises the risk of developing glaucoma.
