Yasser Arafat convened his new, streamlined Cabinet in Ramallah Thursday,
a day after Israel ended its latest blockade of his headquarters.
One of the holdover ministers, Nabil Shaath, flew to Washington Thursday
to provide Palestinian input for U.S. ideas for Mideast peacemaking,
after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met U.S. President George
W. Bush and congressional leaders on Monday and Tuesday. Sharon returned
early Thursday from his trip, which included a stopover in London
for talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
