Senate Governmental Affairs June 20, 2002 ``The Department of Homeland
Security: Making Americans Safer`` Introduction Chairman Lieberman,
Senator
Thompson, Committee Members, I very much appreciate the opportunity
to
testify today in support of the President`s historic proposal to create
a new Department of Homeland Security. I am here to convey personally
the
President`s deep desire to work with Congress on making Americans
safer
through this government reorganization. I look forward to responding
