NSW: Police apologise to murder victims' families after stuff up

The New South Wales Police service has apologised to the families of three murdered women for the force's bungling of the case more than 20 years ago.

Crime Agencies Commander GRAEME MORGAN has conceded police fluffed the investigation into the women's disappearances in the Hunter region in the late 1970s.

But he says police have vastly improved their procedures since then.
