A day after his resignation, Turkey's popular former foreign minister
announced Friday the creation of a new political party aimed at replacing
the ailing prime minister and restoring confidence in the country.
Ismail Cem said the new political movement would be pro-Western and
based on social democratic principles.
He said the movement would include economy minister Kemal Dervis and
former Deputy Premier Husamettin Ozkan.
"With Mr. Dervis and Ozkan, we have decided to launch a new political
movement," Cem said at a press conference a day after he resigned.
