Dateline: ST. PETERSBURG, Russia Russia's defense minister, speaking at a news conference with his counterpart from top U.S. ally Britain, reiterated his country's strong opposition to a U.S.-led attack on Iraq.

"We do not and cannot back any unilateral military actions against Iraq that are not sanctioned by the United Nations," Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said after meetings with Britain's Defense Secretary Geoffrey Hoon.
