(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) TELLURIDE, COLO. -- During finals some
students struggle through marathon all-nighters and eating and drinking
binges, testing the limits of their mental and physical strength.
UC-Berkeley graduate student Derek Caveney does this for fun, during
his spare time -- while trekking 250 miles through the mountains.
Caveney competes in the relatively new sport of adventure racing -
- arguably the world's most gruelling and challenging athletic competition.
Adventure races pit international teams of three to four individuals
on multi-day, multi-event courses that test participants' physical
