LES DEUX ALPES, France, July 23 AFP - Robbie McEwen's fight for the green jersey in the Tour de France might yet come to fruition, but chances of the Australian champion enjoying the long-term benefits are looking slimmer by the day.

McEwen, the 30-year-old Lotto rider, is currently winning the battle against Germany's Erik Zabel, 32, a six-time consecutive winner, for the jersey's points competition.

But both riders, now over the thirties mark when sprinters usually start to lose those quick bursts of energy and gain strength for climbing, are coming under threat from another ...
