Arab commentators accused the Arab League on Friday of responding
weakly to the Israeli airstrike on Gaza City that killed a Palestinian
militant and 14 civilians, including nine children.
The Tuesday night attack provoked world protests, with U.N. Secretary-
General Kofi Annan saying Israel had failed its "legal and moral responsibility
to take all measures to avoid the innocent loss of life."
On Thursday, the 22-member Arab League said those who committed "the
Gaza massacre" should face an international criminal tribunal. After
a meeting of its permanent representatives in Cairo, the league called
on the U.N. Security Council ...
