Gym: Australians unveil secret weapon

MANCHESTER, July 27 AAP - Australian gymnastics has unveiled its secret weapon - a 14-year-old girl from Perth who is performing floor routines with a start value of 10, the highest difficulty ranking.

Sarah Lauren, who turns 15 on Tuesday, stepped out of Allana Slater' s shadow with an almost flawless 9.450 on the floor to help the Australian women's team retain its Commonwealth Games all-round title.

Lauren was spotted by the West Australian Institute of Sport at the age of five and went into its coaching program at six.
