Vic: New anger management program to stop domestic violence

MELBOURNE, July 29 AAP - Men charged with domestic violence will be forced to have anger management counselling under a new Victorian government program.

Attorney-General Rob Hulls said today the three-year pilot program aims to break the cycle of domestic violence.

Mr Hulls said almost one in four Australian women experienced violence at the hands of their male partners and nearly two thirds have children.

Funded as part of the $5 million Women's Safety Strategy, the program will help up to 400 men and their families get access to counselling services.
