Fed: Murray rejects Stott Despoja's ultimatum

CANBERRA, July 29 AAP - Australian Democrats leader Natasha Stott Despoja today gave rebel Senator Andrew Murray an ultimatum - rejoin the party's parliamentary team or resign from the Senate.

But the West Australian senator remained adamant he needed time to cool off, saying he did not respond to ultimatums.

Senator Murray yesterday announced his exile from his portfolio and the party room, on the grounds he no longer supported his leader.

His move, following former leader Meg Lees' resignation from the party on Friday, plunged the party deeper into crisis.
