SYDNEY, Aug 2 AAP - Parents in Sydney have been warned not to let their children go alone into public toilets after two young boys - one six years old - were sexually assaulted.

Police today said the description of the attacker was the same in both cases prompting fears a lone paedophile was preying on young children.

In the first incident on July 16, a six-year-old boy went to a public toilet in Central Gardens Park at Merrylands in Sydney's west.

He was sexually assaulted inside a cubicle by a man who then left the park.
