Practice doesn't make perfect unless you get a good night's sleep, a new study suggests.

During sleep, Boston scientists say, the brain helps you get better at actions you rehearsed during the day. Most important, it seems, are the final, early-morning hours of sleep.

The findings might make coaches think twice about early-morning practices. And doctors who want stroke patients to relearn basic skills might encourage them to sleep in.
