After touring courses the last few years, the Maine Open, which starts today, is back in the state's largest city.

The Maine Open was a fixture at Riverside Golf Course for years. It left for other courses after 1995, but now is back where it should be, according to the Maine State Golf Association.

"Riverside is a great site for the state open," said the MSGA executive director, Nancy DeFrancesco. "The course offers outstanding viewing areas. It's in Maine's largest city. The pros like coming here."
