Fed: Parliament House shut down during bomb squad inspection

CANBERRA, Aug 31 AAP - Parliament House was shut down today as
bomb squad officers
inspected a van covered in politically-motivated graffiti abandoned
outside the building.
A 42-year-old Canberra man was charged by the Australian Federal
Police (AFP) after
he drove his Isuzu van into the Parliament House forecourt, parked
it and then ran off
down the hill.
The van, plastered in protest messages to the government, local
media, Telstra, Casino
Canberra and a bank, was checked for bombs as the area around it was
evacuated and Parliament
House was shut to the public.
