THERE are reports of growing cooperation between organized crime in Russia and members of the ruling religious establishment in Iran. Some Iranian officials are said to be worried about growing Russian criminal penetration of the country.

Secret reports indicate that certain mullahs and Russian criminals cooperate closely. According to the reports, heroin and other narcotics confiscated from smugglers by the Iranian regime are being passed on to Russian buyers.

The Russian gangs in turn have agreed to seek nuclear parts and equipment for their Iranian contacts, the reports say. They also supply the Iranians with other material in short supply - ...
