Israelis could express their grief this week over the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin by making a pilgrimage to his coffin while he lay in state at the Knesset or by taking part in the funeral procession. There were also the candlelight vigils in front of the Rabins' Tel Aviv home, and the continuous memorial at Kikar Malchei Yisrael.

World leaders got to attend the funeral on Mount Herzl and to sign the official condolence book.

But Rabin was an international figure, who was admired for his accomplishments by people around the world, Jews and non-Jews alike.
