"If God will be with me and guard me on this road that I am going, and give me bread to eat, and garments to wear, and restore me with peace to the house of my father, then the Lord will be for me as God, and this stone which I have made a monument will be a house of God, and from all that God gives me I shall tithe." (Genesis 28:20-22).
THE relationship between Jacob and the Almighty in this week's portion of Vayetze seems disappointing. Perhaps Jacob is really saying: "If You want me to be one of Your worshipers, then here is what I want from the duty-free shop in heaven's airport."
