WASHINGTON, June 29 (IPS) -- The World Bank's World Development
Report 1995 -- "Workers in an Integrating World" -- offers an
opportunity for the Bank to provide leadership on a central issue
facing both its borrowing and non-borrowing member countries.
How to reconcile the interests of workers in industrialized
countries and those at a lesser stage of development with the
increasing competition of countries for the same pool of investment
capital, has become a major preoccupation for global and national
