BEIJING, July 18 (IPS) -- Deteriorating relations between the
United States and China are beginning to take a toll on trade
between the economic and political rivals.
Almost a year after a resoundingly successful trade visit to
China, U.S. Commerce Secretary Ron Brown is likely to put off a
return trip planned for late August or early September due to the
deepening chill in Sino-U.S. ties, observers here say.
Washington has dismissed calls for a boycott of the United
Nations Women's Conference in Beijing in September, but doubts have
been raised about the possibility of First Lady Hillary Rodham
Clinton leading the U.S. delegation.
