UNITED NATIONS, Mar. 23 (IPS) -- A U.N. watchdog body has
discovered waste, extravagance, and cost overruns in an
international tribunal sitting in judgement over genocide in the
former Yugoslavia.
The U.N. Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) says it
has identified at least $6 million in unjustified expenditures at
the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. The Tribunal,
set up by the U.N. Security Council in 1993 in response to charges
of mass killings of Bosnians, currently is sitting in the Hague.
The OIOS says it is concerned that the need for the construction
of a second courtroom, at a cost of about $5.5 ...
