ABIDJAN, May 28 (IPS) -- Slated the world over for its military
and human rights record at home, Nigeria seems poised to play a
role in overturning the weekend coup in Sierra Leone.
The sub-region is waiting for the response to the May 25 coup
-- the third in five years in Sierra Leone -- by Nigeria, the
current chair of the Economic Community of West African States
(ECOWAS), and the region's economic and political giant.
Nigeria ia also commander of the West African Peacekeeping Force
(ECOMOG).
